Banana Cake Recipe — Cheaper than Napoleon Cake

Ingredients for dough:

  • eggs — 5 pcs;
  • sugar — 2 cups (250 ml each);
  • baking soda — 1 tsp + vinegar or citric acid for activation;
  • buttermilk — 1 cup;
  • flour — 4 tbsp.

Ingredients for crème:

  • sour cream 20% — 350–400 g;
  • sugar — 1–1,5 tbsp;
  • bananas — 3–4 pcs.

How to make Banana Paradise Cake

Beat the eggs and sugar with a mixer until light. Dissolve the baking soda in vinegar or citric acid, add to the egg mixture and stir. Add the buttermilk and mix gently with a spatula.

Sift the flour and knead into a smooth dough. Grease a 24 cm baking dish with oil and pour in the dough. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 40 minutes.

Cool the finished sponge cake, cut off the top (for decoration), and cut into 2 pieces.

Beat sour cream with sugar until fluffy. Spread the cream on the first cake layer, place the sliced bananas on top and cover with the cream. Cover with the second cake layer and spread the cream over the entire cake.

Chop the sliced sponge and sprinkle over the top of the cake. Garnish with bananas or other fruit as you wish. Leave the cake in the refrigerator for 2–3 hours.
